Licensed Marital and Family Therapist

Kalli N. Rimikis-Kerr is a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist, and founder of City Therapy Center.  Kalli earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Adler University.

Areas of Focus:
In her clinical work, Kalli specializes in individual, couples, and family therapy. She welcomes individuals and couples and all members of the family to explore dynamics and relational patterns in their quest to forge healthier, more stable relationships.  Her areas of expertise include couples therapy, mood disorders – anxiety and depression, self-esteem, parenting and divorce, and family transitions.

Adults whose childhood development was affected by the fallout of divorce have always been a prime focus of her work.  By being consciously aware of the effects of their parent’s marriage and divorce, individuals avoid repeating the witnessed patterns in their own relationships and lives. And, with compassion and acceptance, she works with couples in a therapeutic environment to support each individual’s interests as a means to catalyze better communication, more positive interaction and a greater sense of intimacy and connection within a relationship or marriage.

Therapeutic Philosophy:
Kalli utilizes the Family Systems theory to therapy with  specific training in Adlerian Psychology. With over 25 years of experience, one of her goals is to clarify historical family dynamics that have shaped individuals during their developmental, formative years by defining the parameters that motivate their behavior. If a clearer understanding of one’s motivation is attained, it becomes possible to gain a better understanding of how we succeed or fail in our relationships. By challenging and empowering clients in a supportive and honest environment, individuals and couples are assisted in achieving a greater degree of enjoyment and satisfaction in life. This process can offer some consolation to all parties experiencing the process of forging, repairing or dissolving a relationship.
